September 28, 2008 Vancouver’s Sandy Lam wins Red Dot Award

    Sandy Lam's Spaceless Design

Emily Carr University of Art + Design graduate Sandy Lam has recently won a prestigious Red Dot award for her space saving balcony furniture.  The design, called “Spaceless” was inspired by a desire to get the most out of her small balcony and the fact that in Vancouver’s real estate market, apartments are going for more than $800 per square foot.  The table and bench collapse into the balcony floor when you aren’t using them.

September 15, 2008 Does Your Business Card Function?

I’ve always been fascinated in the really creative ways people make their business cards these days, and for me the really intelligent way to do it – is to give some literal crossover between what you do and your cards.

The image above is a card created for a Debt Recovery Agent – If you don’t pay your debts, the x-ray is proof that they will break a finger.

Effective? Take a look at CreativeBits blog.

September 11, 2008 Chris Jordan – Running With Numbers

It’s amazing when you get someone to put, astrological numbers into a perspective we can understand. Chris Jordon has created a American Self Portrait in such astonishing visuals that – they’re almost unbelievable!

To give you an example – the image posted depicts 32,000 Barbies, equal to the number of elective breast augmentation surgeries performed monthly in the US in 2006. If that doesn’t open your eyes, then I suggest you visit his site!

September 8, 2008 It’s Soap Box Derby Time!

Yes it’s a fundraiser, and Yes it’s a Soap Box Derby People! Watch some of the weirdest hand made cars go down Gastown’s historic Water Street. Eat, drink, cheer, bring the family, bring the dog.

However, the most important part of this event is the CAUSE, so please donate $1 or $100. This money is for early cancer detection research. It’s proven that early detection of Cancer almost certainly helps in successful treatment, which almost is like a CURE.

For more information about the event and the cause go to the Canary Derby website.

And if you do want to donate, please go to my donation page.

    Thank you All!

    FAKE 3-D

    axel-peemoeller
Axel Peemoeller has done an impressive display of signage in an underground parking lot in Melbourne. Impressive is actually an understatement. So when I found this I thought – pretty cool. But then my logical side caught up and slapped me upside the head, because if I were driving, would it seem like there was this large impressive sign dangling in the mid air?
